Accessibility

A big desire of mine was to obtain an accessible website. You can define a website "accessible" when people can use it. This include a wide variety of issues. The same website should be accessible with different browsers, by different people, even with some form of disability (blind people, for example), using different platforms (operating systems) and platform configurations.
This is fairly difficult to achieve and at the moment the vast majority of websites only tries to display well in Internet Explorer, at common resolutions and to the eyes of "normal" people.

By the way, the W3C has produced a series of recommendations named WCAG. You can reach different levels of accessibility compliance: none (like the vast majority of websites), the first level (A), the second level (AA) or the third, highest, level (AAA).
All this website (except the forum part) conforms to the "A" compliance level. I used also a lot of solutions typical of the other two levels but I can't declare an "AAA" compliance just because of a problem with ads I'm not allowed to solve myself.

Every page has at its top an hidden link that makes the visitor skip the content of the page and go to the main menu. This way if a blind user reaches the wrong page he can go to the main menu and reach another page without having to hear (with a vocal browser) all the content of the page. This link can be followed using the key "0" as accesskey (in Internet Explorer you press "Alt" and "0" at the same time to use the accesskey).

Also the main menu of the site has accesskeys: they are letters ("A" for the first menu link, "B" for the second and so on). The use of accesskeys is important for people who can't use regular mouses.

There are also a lot of other things to make this website accessible but nothing is perfect so if you have any problem using this website just contact me. Feedback is welcome from everyone, especially from people with disabilities.
